Why we love Las Vegas Market – July 2014

Why we love Las Vegas Market – July 2014

It’s always a good time had by all at the Last Vegas Market, but this time I wanted to let you know a little more about it. Sure, the best part is seeing all the new items, design ideas and trends, and don’t worry, we’ll get to that… But networking and communicating with our industry partners is a big part of it. Not only does it allow us as buyers to network with hundreds of potential new manufacturers, but we get to meet and discuss our current state of business with existing suppliers. We are fortunate enough to have a strong sales representation in our home state of Michigan and having the opportunity to meet with many of them in such a short span of time, is rewarding and beneficial in itself!

Ok, now onto some of our favorite new items we saw at market!

A new collection by Aspen Home, which is sure to be a big hit when it becomes available. Industrial has grown significantly this past years, and it is becoming much more elegant in it’s design.

Grandfather clocks have come a long way.. check out these new contemporary versions from Howard Miller!

Gray is still the new beige, Lots of gorgeous grey toned sofa collections

Accessories are really getting fun!

with a fun take on mid-century modern too..

Last, but not least… You could definitely still see the ‘Restoration Hardware’ trend still strong,

and the cleverly named ‘Bad Boy’ chair..

Hope you enjoyed the trip!

2014 Winter Las Vegas Market Part 2

2014 Winter Las Vegas Market Part 2

Coastal influences still have major appeal, but with a much more modern color palette of blues, dark teals and corals.

Thom Filicia unveils a new lighting design with Safavieh! Described as earthly modern. Shades will add as much design as the lamp base itself.

Mirrored Furniture is still so hot right now.. We are now even seeing it in a Mylar form (not shown) where the damage risk of it being shipped to your home is so much less!

Chunky wood edges in either a modern or rustic finish showed a dominant presence.

Most unique items I found that has a ton of functionality was with Dovetail. Love the wire baskets, top space and casters.

Hope you have enjoyed part 2… More coming! We always have such a great time at market!

We’d like to share with you our favorite moments from the past week. Keep checking back for more, there were so many, I had to break them out into separate posts!

These beds below give interest that is unexpected!

A bed that changes color and lights
A rocking bed by Shiner

A beautiful canopy bed by Riverside

And a Magnussen driftwood finished mansion bed.

A combination of recycled wood and painted metal presented in a whole new way, with a modern classic feel.

Upholstered dining chairs and barstools are getting brighter and more colorful than ever!

And everyone couldn’t get enough of nailheads!

Got Cabin Fever? Cozy up to a Neutral Tropical Bedroom

Got Cabin Fever? Cozy up to a Neutral Tropical Bedroom

This cold winter and all this snow has got me getting a bad case of cabin fever. Wishing I were somewhere hot and tropical! So I had to create a tropics inspired space to escape to! Mix and match furniture finishes create a curated look that has been acquired over several years. My choice is a dark rich sleigh bed by Magnussen and a Hooker distressed accent chest that can also be used as a nightstand. A jute rug is a staple in home decor in tropical locations. And add fun pops of color to create interest with a cozy club chair in mango and coordinating decorative pillows in orange and green foliage. Finish it off with a classic paint color, Benjamin Moore Oakwood Manor. Can’t you just hear the sounds of the ocean?

Here it is; the first design board on the blog and I designed it just for you! I wanted to create a neutral living room with a cozy, yet modern feel to it. For as little as $3,700 you can easily create this comfy design from the 8 x 10 area rug, to the lighting, upholstery and occasional tables by mixing and matching various brands like Broyhill, Magnussen and angelo:Home. Don’t forget to finish your favorite design by covering the walls with a coordinating color. For this design I recommend Gray Mirage by Benjamin Moore. It will ground the room, yet create a subtle contrast against the beige sofa. If you like what you see, view the items below and then shop with us now to find exactly what you’re looking for to create the room of your dreams! Thank you and I’d love to hear your thoughts on this design. See you later!
