Hi Everyone! We just got back from an amazing trip to Las Vegas and World Market Center. It is a hot spot for fantastic finds, hot design trends, and interior design inspiration. We’d like to share with you our favorite moments from the past week. Keep checking back for more, there were so many, I had to break them out into separate posts!
These beds below give interest that is unexpected!
A bed that changes color and lights
A rocking bed by Shiner
A beautiful canopy bed by Riverside
And a Magnussen driftwood finished mansion bed.
A combination of recycled wood and painted metal presented in a whole new way, with a modern classic feel.
Upholstered dining chairs and barstools are getting brighter and more colorful than ever!
High Point Market just wrapped up last week and it was great! As many of you may know, market is the place to go for buyers to do all their furniture and accessory buying for the coming season. It also is a destination for interior designers to get trend and and design ideas. I put together a board to show you the top 5 design trends I noticed:
1. Dark colored walls in a bedroom. Many showrooms had beautiful beds with dark moody brown or navy colored walls. If you ask me, I think it’s kinda sexy.
2. White washed/distressed wood furniture has been around for a few years now, and I don’t see it going away anytime soon. This look is great in a modern, or beachy space. it Has a very transitional look which makes it appealing to many buyers.
3. Curved sofas and sectionals. By far, my favorite new trend… Curved sofas tend to bring living rooms a softness to a more typical perpendicular room arrangement, while offering a more comfortable conversational feel.
4. Aviation. Restoration hardware did it again! They brought that urban loft look to the main stream a few years ago, and it continues, now with aviation inspired design, and it is HOT!
5. Last, but not least.. Watery Colors! Whether it be blues, greens, or yellows, the color trend for this season gives a beach and springtime feel. It’s light and airy, and puts you in a good mood.
I hope you enjoyed these design trends. More market posts planned for you so stay on the look out!
A few weeks ago some of us were very luck to attend Las Vegas World Market Center! A couple of crazy days of furniture shopping and show room visiting. Some of the highlights included A meeting with Angelo Surmelis again. We currently have a bunch of his product on the site under the angelo:HOME brand, and we will have a lot more coming soon! Maybe even a “Michelle” dining set, named after me, if we are lucky… We also got to check out new products from some of our top selling and fashionable brands like Broyhill, Jeffan, and Magnussen. Magnussen has new great kids bedrooms we will add to the site very soon.. so stay tuned! Surya’s showroom was also full of great color combinations in rugs, pillows, and throws.
We usually provide you some HOT TRENDS we notice at market, so check out this video hosted by Monica Peterson below to hear more about them!
Our trip to Nevada for Las Vegas Market at World Market Center would not be complete without a little fun on the strip. With the Cosmopolitan as our home for 4 days we were set right in the middle of all the action. I personally had the opportunity to spend time enjoying the luxurious dining and amenities of Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, so I thought why not put together a little info on the coolest things to do while you are visiting the newest addition to the Las Vegas Strip.
1. Stay in a Terrace Room
We were very surprised by the views offered from Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, you get an in-your-face look at some of the best Vegas offers. Personally, my room faced directly onto the Planet Hollywood rooftop sign but you could see down the strip all the way to the MGM to far past Treasure Island. Another one of our team members looked out across Bellagio and the Dancing Fountains! It was great to see all the Vegas sights right from your balcony.
2. Visit both Bamboo and Boulevard Pools
There are several pools at Cosmo LV, I recommend that you spend time at both the Bamboo Pool and Boulevard Pools. Bamboo is great for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle, situated off to the side of the many Cosmopolitan rooftops it looks across to Aria and Vdara. It is great for those who are just looking to lounge and relax. On the other hand the Boulevard Pools is mere feet from the Las Vegas Strip, right in the heart of all the action. I spent a awesome afternoon here playing pool and video games on the pool deck and enjoy the Las Vegas sun from the tiered sun decks.
3. Drink on all 3 Levels of the Chandelier bar
The centerpiece of the gaming floor is the marvelous Chandelier Bar. It surprisingly has 3 different levels and 6 different bars. Thanks to a tip from our waitress on the first evening, we learned that each level features its own specialty menu, therefore it became my mission to drink on all 3 levels. I highly recommend the Ransom Note on the Main Level!
4. Finding the Secret Pizza Place
Let’s just say… hidden somewhere in Cosmopolitan is a secret Pizza Place, with delicious (and affordable) New York Style Pizza, PBR and IPA. It may get served on a paper plate with your beer in a red Solo Cup and there may be vintage video arcade machines and it may be located on the 3rd Floor on the East Side tower.
Keep your eyes peeled for a long album lined hallway and be ready for some of the best late night eats on the strip.
5. Pay Attention to the Details
Everything in Vegas is always Shiny and spectacular, but the attention to details in the Cosmopolitan is nothing like I have ever seen. Closer inspection of wallpapers, lighting and carpeting leads to discovery of hidden images, like sexy silhouettes hidden in my bathroom’s wallpaper.
Our team marveled in the hooked glass chandeliers throughout the property, which happened to be one of the many trends we spotted at World Market Center. Lit shadow boxes lined columns filled with cascading jewels, chandeliers glistening with LED lighting making 3D dancing graphics…just keep your eyes peeled for cool details throughout the hotel and you’ll be surprised what you can spot.
Overall our team had an amazing time staying and playing at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas. If you have the chance just spend a few hours exploring the many fantastic spaces in the Cosmo.
So how many of you are big HGTV fans like myself? I’m hoping a lot of you are! This past market I got a rare opportunity to meet Angelo Surmelis from HGTV at one of our manufacturers showroom. He is going to have a beautiful and affordable line of casegoods from Southern Enterprises (SEI) in the angelo:HOME brand. They have that “napa style” look to them and a at great price retailing for $299 or less. We are going to have them on furniturecrate.com this spring! In addition to the accent furniture pieces, I hope to have his angelo:HOME upholstery line also this spring.
I will say, Angelo is a very down to earth person with a ton of energy, I left the meeting being so excited on his new furniture line, I can’t wait to get some of his items myself! Check it out:
Sorry we’ve been a little quiet lately but we have been so busy working on new product just for you! We saw a lot of good stuff at market last month. I’d like to share with you some of the HOT TRENDS we are seeing and going to be able to offer you very shortly.
We saw a lot of that “Restoration Hardware” Look, an antiqued oak/pickled/white washed aged look in wood products, and for every room of the house. We can’t seem to find the right word for it it, but once we do, we’ll have to create a collection around it!
So it’s been a few weeks since we got back from Vegas Market. It was a great show and we’ve been hard at work ever since getting our hands on these looks! We saw so many great products and trends; it’s hard to know where to start.
One key note is that consumers want a piece of furniture they can invest in, due to the change in economy. They desire quality pieces, and even larger scale items to last a long time. Manufacturers are stepping up the quality game, and not just making products to meet a price point. They are also designing them in neutral, classic styling so they don’t go out of style before they get worn out.
And on to the fun! Hot looks we saw a lot of were:
Grey and Yellow: Hottest new color trend
White washed wood, bleached wood, and that natural look.
Hi everyone, about twice a year we attend the World Market Center in Las Vegas, NV. No, this isn’t just a fun trip, but we make some great connections with vendors and get cool ideas on trend.
Some of the great things we experienced were Shiatsu massage chairs. OMG, they are wonderful! The chairs have so many options on what type of massage it gives you, feels almost like a real masseuse is there with you. It was a sight to see, all of us from our company getting a massage in the Berkline show room. But if that is what it takes to get to know our products, we are happy to oblige! After experiencing them, I can guarantee, that they are definitely worth the investment!
In addition to getting to know our products, we get a firsthand look on trend. Trendy turquoise (again), Glossy finishes, mixed materials, lodge living, natural elements, and antique inspired products dominated the market. Here are just a few items we already have that fit the trends!
