Suburban Oasis Home Design

Suburban Oasis Home Design

I stumbled upon this amazing suburban home design by Kristina Wolf Design, based in California. The entire home has a natural flow throughout the space. What we love is how it mixes the popular industrial design with modern features in a typical suburban home. Some of the furniture pieces are also familiar to what we have on our own site as we note below..

The kitchen has an open feel, with a casual round dining set and is open to the family room.

The formal dining room shares the same style and color palette as the rest of the home.

One of our favorite rooms is the master bedroom. That bed looks very familiar, it is the Modloft Ludlow Bed in White Leather and Wenge Finish that we also carry on our site. Just love how she designed the room with a contemporary bed, yet feels very comfortable and warm.

And last but not least, the master bath is just as stunning as the rest of the home.

I think that this home will definitely share as inspiration when I decorate my own home…

Why we love Las Vegas Market – July 2014

Why we love Las Vegas Market – July 2014

It’s always a good time had by all at the Last Vegas Market, but this time I wanted to let you know a little more about it. Sure, the best part is seeing all the new items, design ideas and trends, and don’t worry, we’ll get to that… But networking and communicating with our industry partners is a big part of it. Not only does it allow us as buyers to network with hundreds of potential new manufacturers, but we get to meet and discuss our current state of business with existing suppliers. We are fortunate enough to have a strong sales representation in our home state of Michigan and having the opportunity to meet with many of them in such a short span of time, is rewarding and beneficial in itself!

Ok, now onto some of our favorite new items we saw at market!

A new collection by Aspen Home, which is sure to be a big hit when it becomes available. Industrial has grown significantly this past years, and it is becoming much more elegant in it’s design.

Grandfather clocks have come a long way.. check out these new contemporary versions from Howard Miller!

Gray is still the new beige, Lots of gorgeous grey toned sofa collections

Accessories are really getting fun!

with a fun take on mid-century modern too..

Last, but not least… You could definitely still see the ‘Restoration Hardware’ trend still strong,

and the cleverly named ‘Bad Boy’ chair..

Hope you enjoyed the trip!

Jonathan Adler does it again

Jonathan Adler does it again

You know, I receive a lot of trade and design emails, trade magazines, publications, and advertisements, and sometimes they all blend together. However, today, I was pleasantly surprised. The email was entitled, ‘Scantily Clad Sculpture’. I admit, it peaked my interested. And it was true, it was pottery done to perfection with a woman’s body. Jonathan Adler created some very unique, yet poetically done pieces to accent your home. It is not abstract, however in a clean white design, it can grace your home beautifully, without being too daring. Hope you enjoy!

Modern Lux Redux

Modern Lux Redux

While browsing the infamous Pinterest, I stumbled upon this room scene. It’s very sophisticated, and has a modern luxe feel to it. It’s easy to recreate that look in your home with the furniture we carry. And don’t worry, the items don’t have to exactly match.

Shop: sofa, bench, green pillows, lime ikat pillows, striped pillow, orange pillows, chair, stool, chandelier, table lamp, coffee table, rug

What is a Pouf?

What is a Pouf?

Do you ask, what is a pouf? Some people call them floor pillows, some call them pouf’s. Whatever your term for them is, it doesn’t matter. They are functional, and very tres chic. You can use them as extra seating, or lounging around during movie time. They add texture and pattern to any space, and make that space more interesting. Shop our poufs here!

Let’s talk color… more from HPMKT

Let’s talk color… more from HPMKT

Let’s talk color. In addition to style and functional trends, color trends also set the tone of design.

Incorporating bold color always creates a pop of excitement in a space. Previous pantone colors of the years are displayed beautifully in the same items as shown below (Tangerine Tango, Mimosa, Radiant Orchid, and Blue Iris).

Teal continues to be a top choice for designers. This chesterfield sofa from Eleanor Rigby Company was amazingly comfortable and would definitely make a statement in South Beach.

And this Bernhardt bed is just gorgeous in this blue color.

We also saw a lot of Pink accents this trip! Was so refreshing in so many hues..

Rose colored case pieces at Stanley

Sophisticated hues at Bernhardt

And mixing all them together creates a fun look for everyone to enjoy!

More from High Point Market April 2014

One thing I love about going to market is seeing the hot designer trends. There was definitely a resurgence of antiques and classics all around us.

Here is a list of what we saw that was on it’s way back and becoming popular.

Golds and brasses are making a major comeback, as seen in the previous market.
My favorite.. this bed by Bernhardt! The gold mixed with gray creates a very sophisticated master suite.

Antique mirrors, mostly seen in chests, sideboards and tables.

Walnut veneers, more emphasis on the natural grain and walnut was used a lot in mid-century design.

Benches featured with dining seating. More stone inlays in occasional and case pieces. Also, some more modern pieces now incorporating concrete.

Rustic diagonal or chevron inlayed wood top tables.

Gray painted furniture, especially in kids collections. Looks especially sweet mixed with pinks.

Gathering heights are becoming more formal in design.

More to come later, stay tuned!

Masculine Chocolate Brown Living Space

Masculine Chocolate Brown Living Space

Found this beautiful masculine living space created with muted brown and neutral tones on Pinterest.

Want to recreate it in your home? We’ve found items that can help you achieve this very same look!

The Bernhardt Vintage Patina Bookcase has always been a favorite of ours. The Uttermost Paris Photo Set set the tone of the room as elegant and masculine because of the architecture. Paired with exquisite Bradington Young club chairs and Klaussner coffee table and cooridinating end table. The find of the century? The Tommy Bahama Tasmania End Table has that intricate detail as shown in the inspiration room. Grounding the room is a natural sisal rug from Surya. And topped off with off with a handsome wall sconce. Hope you enjoy!

2014 Winter Las Vegas Market Part 3

2014 Winter Las Vegas Market Part 3

The last Vegas report is all about the bedroom!

We saw some incredibily gorgeous master bedrooms from Aspen Home.

And from Ashley

And Skyline

And my personal favorite, since I have 2 little girls, the Lightheaded beds! You can personalize it with your favorite Disney character or scene. Even can have one custom made with their picture on it! Kids can read with the ambient light and it’s even set on a timer, so don’t worry about going in and shutting it off after they fall asleep. Can’t wait to bring you these later this year!

And lastly, but never forgotten, the mattress. Our sister site, US-Mattress.com was invited to preview both the brand new Comforpedic IQ and the Simmons Beautyrest Black launches.

Simmons Introduces the Future of Sleep with Innovative ComforPedic iQ. The iQ mattress adjusts to your sleeping throughout the night, regardless of how you move around and features brand new technology that you can’t find anywhere else. Because of its unique design, ComforPedic iQ is the first and only mattress endorsed by Dr. Andrew Weil, a world-renowned pioneer and leader in the field of integrative medicine.

We were also fortunate enough to preview the Dream in Black event featuring the sponsorship of Dempsey Racing with both Patrick Demsey and his teammate Andrew Davis. The partnership brings performance and modern luxury together. To find out more detail, check out this press release.

Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed the trip with us!

2014 Winter Las Vegas Market Part 2

2014 Winter Las Vegas Market Part 2

Coastal influences still have major appeal, but with a much more modern color palette of blues, dark teals and corals.

Thom Filicia unveils a new lighting design with Safavieh! Described as earthly modern. Shades will add as much design as the lamp base itself.

Mirrored Furniture is still so hot right now.. We are now even seeing it in a Mylar form (not shown) where the damage risk of it being shipped to your home is so much less!

Chunky wood edges in either a modern or rustic finish showed a dominant presence.

Most unique items I found that has a ton of functionality was with Dovetail. Love the wire baskets, top space and casters.

Hope you have enjoyed part 2… More coming! We always have such a great time at market!
