FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: GALAX, VA — Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Company will be the subject of a four minute feature store this week on ABC News World Report with Diane Sawyer. In the segment, ABC is providing a Dallas, TX family an American-Made bedroom set, living set and kitchen appliances.
”We are extremely proud that Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Company has been chosen to provide the American-Made bedroom set for this home,” said John D. Bassett III, Chairman of Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Company. ”ABC News has informed us that they are creating a series of at least five stories this week that feature products Made in America by American craftsmen. Because Vaughan-Bassett is the largest American manufacturer of wooden bedroom furniture, we are a natural fit for this series.”
Vaughan-Bassett produces over 99% of its products in its US plants in Galax, VA and Elkin, NC. The company employs over 650 American craftsmen in its facilities.
A producer from New York and a film crew from Charlotte, NC spent seven hours filming at the Galax factory on Monday, February 21st. the ABC crew interviewed Chris Dalton (Cabinet Room), Shirley Johnson (Cabinet Room), Steve Wilmouth (Samples), Onelar Cubgas (Drawer Line), Ronnie McGrady (Sr. VP, Manufacturing) and Doug Bassett (Exec. VP, COO).
The crew also shot extensive footage of the furniture manufacturing process, following the dried lumber from the dry kilns through the Rough End and Machine Room. The crew then filmed the furniture being assembled in the Cabinet Room, and finally through Vaughan-Bassett’s 14-step finishing process in its Finishing Room.
ABC News has informed Vaughan-Bassett that its segment is [appearing tonight]Thursday, March 3rd. The bedroom suite chosen by the Dallas family as their new bedroom collection is the BB4 Hamilton Group, which features a Poster Bed in a merlot finish.
