Clean Green. By just switching to green household cleaning chemicals instead of those ones that fill the house up with odors, can help you breath better and it’s much better for the environment. The old cleaners are filled with VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) that are very harmful to breath in, that’s why they recommend using them with the windows open. During this time of year, you don’t want your windows open since its too cold outside, so stay safe and avoid these. Your family will appreciate it too!

Adjust your thermostat. Energy savings can be achieved by lowering the temperature 1-10 degrees when you are not at home, or during your sleep times during the winter. We all love to snuggle on the couch with blankets during this time of year so get cozy and save some energy!

Switch to CFL’s if you haven’t already. Electricity generation is the number one cause of global warming today. But how can you make a difference? It’s as easy as screwing in a new light bulb today. If you’re not already using compact fluorescent lights, it would be a wise investment in your budget and for the environment. If every household in the U.S. replaced just ONE incandescent light bulb with an energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL), it would eliminate the equivalent of the emissions created by one million cars. And that’s only one bulb per household! Most homes have 15-30 bulbs. And CFL’s last 5-7 years, much longer than incandescent.
